What to expect, honestly

Solid wood over concrete — what's normal, and what we want you to know upfront

Solid wood is a natural material, and installing it directly over concrete steps is different from installing it over a wood subfloor. Over time, it’s normal for solid wood treads in this kind of installation to show minor surface hairline marks or slight movement — this is a natural characteristic of solid wood, not a defect in workmanship.
We tell you this before you order, not after — because we’d rather you choose solid wood knowing exactly what to expect, the same way you’d expect a hardwood floor to expand and contract slightly with the seasons. Most clients find this completely acceptable for the look and feel of real wood on their stairs.

Built thicker than the standard

1" and 1.5" thick treads — thicker than the typical 3/4" you'll find elsewhere

Most stair tread suppliers — in the US and in Guadalajara — sell 3/4 inch thick treads as their standard. Madetza builds in 1 inch as our base thickness, with a 1.5 inch option for staircases with heavy daily use.

Yes, and it’s one of our most common projects — most staircases in Guadalajara homes are built in concrete. We install the treads directly on top, no demolition needed. We want to be upfront that, because it’s a natural material installed directly over concrete, it’s normal over time for solid wood treads to show minor surface marks or slight movement — this is a natural characteristic of real wood, not a defect, similar to how any hardwood floor reacts to its environment.
No. The treads install directly over your existing concrete steps. There’s no demolition, no major construction mess, and your staircase is back in use within 1-2 days.
1 inch is our standard thickness — noticeably more substantial than the 3/4 inch most suppliers use as their standard. We also offer a 1.5 inch option for staircases with heavy daily use or for a more dramatic look.
Parota is our most requested option for its bold, warm grain. Oak is the hardest wood we offer, ideal if the staircase gets heavy daily use. Tzalam gives a distinctive darker tone. Teak is our premium option, naturally resistant and refined-looking.
Most staircases are completed in 1 to 2 days, depending on the number of steps and any prep work needed on the existing concrete. We commit to a specific date in writing before you pay any deposit.
Yes, completely. We write and read English for all communication over WhatsApp — quote, wood selection, scheduling and confirmation of the finished work. No translator needed.
